Collateral damage of fipronil in economic and ecologically important non-target species

چکیده
Fipronil is an insecticide and acaricide widely used in agriculture domestic animals worldwide. Ecotoxicology studies have shown that, even at the low concentrations on target species, fipronil its degradation products a significant impact non-target either by direct toxicity or indirect effects affecting food chain. The negative of species terrestrial aquatic invertebrates chains led to use being banned severely restricted numerous countries, including all European Union, China, United States. Some highly susceptible are great economic ecological importance, crayfish, brown shrimp, bees. In particular, decimating bee hives worldwide example fipronil´s undesirable agriculture. Other affected -for which there few studies- biological predators same pests controlled fipronil. Considering impacts commercialization indiscriminate seem irresponsible. Colombia, as September 2021 pressed local beekeepers, Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario (ICA) prohibited avocado, coffee, citrus, passiflower plantations. However, long not agricultural applications, farmers could divert continue using it any other type plantation. This paper describes some beneficial invertebrate outmost importance.

Effects of neonicotinoids and fipronil on non-target invertebrates
We assessed the state of knowledge regarding the effects of large-scale pollution with neonicotinoid insecticides and fipronil on non-target invertebrate species of terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments. A large section of the assessment is dedicated to the state of knowledge on sublethal effects on honeybees (Apis mellifera) because this important pollinator is the most studied non-t...
متن کاملCollateral Damage: Trade Disruption and the Economic Impact of War
Conventional wisdom in economic history suggests that conflict between countries can be enormously disruptive of economic activity, especially international trade. Yet nothing is known empirically about these effects in large samples. We study the effects of war on bilateral trade for almost all countries with available data extending back to 1870. Using the gravity model, we estimate the conte...

15 صفحه اولAre all species necessary to reveal ecologically important patterns?
While studying ecological patterns at large scales, ecologists are often unable to identify all collections, forcing them to either omit these unidentified records entirely, without knowing the effect of this, or pursue very costly and time-consuming efforts for identifying them. These "indets" may be of critical importance, but as yet, their impact on the reliability of ecological analyses is ...
